Random Updates...

I haven't updated in a while, but I am going to try to give any quickie family updates that I can...

- I finally took Easter pictures of the kiddos. I think I got some that I am happy with.

- S has been getting into everything! She loves climbing the stairs and she is very careful going back down.

- J is doing great. He starts kindergarten in about 4 months... He is so ready! He has some new Dick and Jane reader books. He is really working hard reading. Of course I am so proud of him.

- Family...hum, well we are all doing good. I love updates that include no drama. We have been saving money for some projects around the house. It is really fun working on the house.

- Work.... Work is still work. I love my job. A lady left a note on my car asking if I backed into hers. Um, no. I would have tried to find her if I did! I understand that she was just trying to find someone.

So that is the past week or so in a couple of sentences. Pictures to come, I hope!

There are times when I forget that Scott is a firefighter. Seriously. I just think in my head oh, he's at work. I really forget what he does.

Then there are times when I notice things he does. For example, a couple of months ago, a car was crushed by a gravel truck. I have the ability to watch straight from the cameras here at work, so I got to see a lot of the footage. I notice Scott was there. Then a little while later he called, said he took some pictures. Ok, so that isn't a big deal right. He worked a major wreck, it happens.

Then less than a week ago, there are wildfires on the other side of Fort Worth. I know that they will send a group from Dallas. I never in my wildest dreams thought Scott would go. I mean hello, there are 50-something stations in Dallas, there are a lot of choices. So when Scott calls to say, he is on the list to go, but it doesn't look likely. I think nothing really of it. Then he calls to say, he has to meet up at the Academy at 7:00, he is going. (it was 6:20) So I get on the phone with Emily to go get him extra insulin and snacks. He is diabetic but that will not get in his way of being a firefighter. So my lovely, excellent sister jumps in her car and takes him the things he needs. He is off. I didn't get to see him before he went, I didn't see him at all, since he left for work at 6:00am that morning. But still, I don't worry. I know he could be there a while. I am ok with that. He loves his job. I love mine. We support each other. Scott fought so many grassfires in Nacogdoches, that I know he knows what he's doing.

He gets home, safe and sound. Just a little tired.

But then... On Easter morning in Houston, two firefighters died in a one story house fire. A vet and a rookie (on his very first fire). I don't know these guys or their families. But I feel like I do. I know that they probably thought like I do, that they are fine. It is so cliche but you never know!

I know in a few months I will go back to not noticing that Scott is a firefighter, well except the soot smell and stained clothing. I will fall back into my routine. I love what he does. Well, I love that he loves what he does.

I will post some pictures of my wonderful fireman from the wildfires.

The Joy of....Cleaning...

It is therapeutic. Well at least to me! It is hard for me to get rid of things that were my babies.

But I have learning that there is nothing they can really do with an old bouncy seat. Yes, they can make each other fly through the air but you know... nothing productive!

So I have spent a good amount of time gathering things for a garage sale. I have a very love/hate relationship with garage sales! I love getting the space cleared and making a little bit of money. I hate when people sneer their noses at the great clothes that my child wore the first time they went to the mountains!

(Except for the fact I kept special clothes like that in my ONE box I am allowing myself to keep!)

But you get the idea. I have memories of my babies in all the clothes, so when someone sneers at them and says, "25 cents?" expect me to snap back, "No! It is a dollar!" Because if it doesn't sell at this garage sale, I will sell it at a consignment sale that I will get my dollar!

Ok. That was nice and therapeutic also!

Today, I moved all the garage sale items to one side of the garage. This by no means means (funny words <-- ) that my garage is "clean" to the standard I want it to be. But it does look good! I have a couple of areas I still want to go through before this weekend. But I am well on my way!
